Mike Harmeier took over 93.1 Texas FM on Friday March 5th from 8am to 9am. All hour long he hand selected the tunes and featured a few from his friends and influences. Plus, he told some of the stories behind his own songs.
Mike is the lead singer of critically acclaimed Texas Red Dirt band Mike and the Moonpies. Based in Austin, the band formed in 2007 and includes Harmeier and drummer Kyle Ponder, guitarist Catlin Rutherford, bassist Omar Oyoque and steel guitarist Zachary Mouton.
In 2020 Mike and the Moonpies released Touch of You: The Lost Songs of Gary Stewart, an album of unreleased tunes written or co-written by honky-tonk legend Gary Stewart. You've heard the first single off the album on Texas FM featuring Mark Wystrach from the band Midland called "Smooth Shot of Whiskey."
