LUBBOCK, Texas – Texas Tech sophomore wide receiver Erik Ezukanma was added Monday to the watch list for the Biletnikoff Award, which is presented annually to the nation’s top receiver regardless of position.
Ezukanma, who is coming of a career-high 183 receiving yards this past Saturday against Oklahoma State, was named to the watch list for the first time in his career. He joins five other Big 12 receivers that remain active on the watch list.
The performance against Oklahoma State pushed Ezukanma to 728 receiving yards and six touchdowns through nine games, which all but assures him to end the season as the Red Raiders’ leading receiver for a second-consecutive year. Ezukanma reached the 100-yard mark for the second time in his career against the Cowboys as he previously totaled 150 receiving yards in the 2019 regular-season finale against Kansas.
Ezukanma will likely become the first Red Raider to lead the team in receiving yards in consecutive yards since Jakeem Grant over the 2014-15 seasons and the first underclassman to do so since two-time Biletnikoff winner Michael Crabtree in 2007-08.
The Fort Worth native has been among the country’s top wideouts throughout the season as his 728 yards through the air only trail Oklahoma State’s Tylan Wallace for the conference lead. He trails both Marvin Mims of Oklahoma and Joshua Moore of Texas for the league high in receiving touchdowns.
Ezukanma will look to add to his total Saturday when the Red Raiders host Kansas on Senior Day. Kickoff is slated for 11 a.m. on FOX Sports 2 and the Texas Tech Sports Network.
